What determines how much I earn?
Location, Location, Location – The higher up the hotspot (roofs, high-rise condos/apartments are great), and the less obstructions you have around you (big trees or buildings), the bigger an area you’ll help cover with the network, and the more you’ll earn. Typically, an individual that lives higher with an unobstructed view of a nearby city or urban area is paid higher than a person living in a rural or suburban community.
Once you apply we’ll plan the optimal setup for your given location and needs. A standard setup up consists of a small antenna outside your window or on your roof to maximize the range of your hotspot
How does setup work?
Our goal is to make setup as simple as possible for you. If your application is approved, we’ll reach out with further details and schedule a setup time. We’ll take care of everything, so you can just kick back and relax. This also ensures optimal set up so you can maximize your rewards.
I’m worried about it connecting to my Wifi and keeping my data protected.
All network hotspots are designed to only transmit data relevant to the network, and there have been no issues with the nearly 125,000 hotspots already deployed to the network. Despite connecting to your wifi, at no point does a Superfluid hotspot get access to any of your network traffic or data, nor will it ever. Data privacy is important to us, and we will continue to value the trust you put in us.
Not even close! A hotspot uses less than 1% of the data per second that it takes to stream a YouTube video. You won’t notice any difference in speeds or data usage.
How much electricity will this use?
Our hotspots use about as much electricity as an average 5W lightbulb.
The radio waves Superfluid hotspots emit are no different from the wifi or cell signals all around you. All hotspots are fully certified to comply with government standards and have undergone multiple audits. As long as you don’t try to take a bite out of your hotspot, there’s nothing to worry about.
As always, we try to keep things simple. We pay out monthly directly to your Venmo or Paypal account. At most, this will require a one time, 5-minute setup, and then you're good to go.
What are your ongoing obligations as a host?
You don’t need to do anything. The hotspot runs quietly in the background, creating coverage and routing data. Just make sure it’s always plugged into power and connected to WiFi. Please see our Hosting Policy for more info.
